-Sigma Nu was nationally founded at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in 1869 when our 3 founders were unsatisfied with the fraternities present at the institution at that time. What prompted the founding of Sigma Nu was a desire to stray away from the mass amounts of hazing that occurred inside the fraternities. As a result Sigma Nu was founded in direct opposition to hazing and still stands for that value today.

Scholarships

-Alumni Scholarship offered every semester to undergraduates achieving a 2.75 GPA or greater. The scholarship is funded by alumni contributions to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation.

Awards

- The 2006 Sigma Nu Alumni Advisor of the Year was awarded to our own Dick Schultz at the 62nd Grand Chapter. This award recognizes the top alumni advisor across our 180 active chapters throughout the country.

- Frank Mancuso was awarded the Outstanding IFC President award at BGSU's annual Greek Awards ceremony this past spring of '08.

- Sigma Nu was awarded the Achievement in Campus Involvement Award at BGSU's 2008 Greek Awards ceremony for successfully having at least 50% of the chapter involved in another campus organization besides Sigma Nu itself.
